Purser Explores The World WIPs

Just so you know something is happening for Purser Explores The World here's a list of topics I'm looking at covering:
  • Synthetic Biology
  • Cybernetics
  • The Restoration of Passion (or why people like rebuilding old things)
  • Australia in Space (another look at the topic that launched the cast)
Let me know if there are other topics you think I should cover.

The search begins

In the last post I had to bring the sad news that Maia is going to be leaving For Science! to go on to more awesomer things. We will of course miss her and she will be welcome back anytime she likes.

However, this means that For Science! is now down a host. I like the format that we have and I would like to continue the two science people and me formula.

I has the sads

It's been a while since I blogged anything over here and I wish I wasn't blogging this particular piece of news.

For Science! has always been about two actual science people and me breaking down the science news and trying to bring it closer to  the "Real World" than your average paper or university press release might other wise achieve.

A quick update

So, you may have noticed a certain lack of activity over the past few weeks here at Angry Beanie.

Well as it happens I started a new full time job about a month ago and as these things tend to do, it sucked away a lot of the time I had to put together the shows and keep the site up to date.

Couple of new things - Paypal and Email

Yeah I know, by themselves they're not exactly new. However they're now part of the Angry Beanie experience.

Let's get the easy one out of the way first.

Email

Remember last week how we asked for feedback on how the shows are put together or anything Angry Beanie related? Well, one of the things that was brought up was being able to get email notifications of new content, whelp far be it for us to stop people getting access to our stuff, we obliged :)

Using Mailchimp, we've created three lists that you can subscribe to.

Feeeeedback

Over the years I've been doing this podcasting thing one of the hardest things I've found was getting feedback from the people who voluntarily sit down and listen to my efforts. It's not just validation I'm looking for (though let's be honest, anyone who does this likes hearing good things about their work) but useful constructive criticisms about formats, topics and so on.

With that in mind I thought I would highlight ways that you can get in contact with us here at Angry Beanie and let us know what you think about what we're doing and how we could improve.

PETW this weekend

Just dropping a quick note to let you know that the next Purser Explores The World will be released this weekend rather than tonight. Will be worth the wait though, I'm going to be talking with history buff, teacher and twitter angry person Mike Stutchbery about the verification of Richard the thirds remains and what that actually means for us here in the 21st century.

With any luck For Science! shall be returning to the internet in the next couple of weeks, so you'll be able to get your science on.

Been a bit quiet lately

Been a little quiet lately on the Angry Beanie front so I thought I would do a bit of an update.

As you know, the first episode of Purser Explores The World is now out. It's a good chin wag with journalist Stilgherrian, Network Engineer Mark Newton and Systems Admin Liz Quilty on the nature of Tomorrows Geek. It runs a little longer than the usual PETW episode, but I think it works.

Purser Explores The World and For Science! return and something new

Okay here it is:

Purser Explores The World and For Science! will return for another go at Discovery Friday on the 25th January 2013.

For Science! will return for another year in which I, Maia Sauren and Magdeline Lum will continue to bring you science for real people, as well as revealing the science behind those things we've started to take for granted.
